Happy tummy to you all..
It feels great to have done this page since I really need help myself. My stomach has quite often been an absolute disaster for the last six months or a little longer.. But it's much better now (March 9 2019). Much of my problems (stomach pain, cramps) disappeared when I stopped using salt. My tip: eliminate salt totally from your diet a few days and feel the difference. Don't eat too much salt. It's not healthy. Eat moderate amounts of salt, with iodine. More about salt health hazards at the bottom of this page. Bad dietary habits, stress, harmful additives in food, medicines with harmful side effects, stress, etc. make us sick. With the right information and motivation, you can change your situation for the better.
After I followed advice on this page for three days, I feel much better. I began to eat lactose-free yogurt, a little tempeh and lactic acid cabbage, drank peppermint tea. It really made a difference for me. I feel much better in my stomach now.
Tempeh, ie fermented soybeans really feels like a good help for the stomach. Try it.

Known ibs triggers
Here are the things you should avoid if you have ibs. Salt is my tips. Cut down on salt.
Known ibs triggers
L-Glutamine powder and Marygold tea - perhaps the best medicine for ibs
A bad stomach can depend on several things. If you have ibs, your mucosa in the stomach irritaded. This makes your stomach extremely sensitive to anything you eat.
You should investigate and try to find the root cause of your specific problem and eliminate bad food from your diet. You also need to heal and repair your mucosa in your stomach.
According to the Swedish Nutritional Therapist Maria Ericsson Glutamine and Marygold tea are some of the best things to do cure ibs.
Pureencapsulations.com that states: Glutamine "supports the mucosal lining and the healthy functioning of the gastrointestinal tract".
Glutamine powder is recommended rather that capsules. If you have ibs, you should investigate what is the case with you, which is the major reason because it may vary from person to person.

FODMAP diet guide
The FODMAP diet guide for you with ibs. FODMAPs stands for: Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. These are short chain carbohydrates and sugar alcohols found in food. They can cause ibs, intestinal problems. Foods that are low in FODMAPs are best for ibs. A low FODMAP-diet is what you shall eat. If you eat too many low-fodmap foods at the same time it will no longer be low, ie a low intake of fodmap.
We are all different. One should try out what suits one's stomach best. It may be good to be inspired by footmap guides but you do not have to follow everything they say. According to them, it is bad for the stomach to eat lentils, beans, etc. I do not agree with this. They also warn of wheat and that warning is justified, especially with regard to wheat flour. But it is possible to eat wheat that is not ground to flour, ie wheat on whole grain. It is a completely different thing for the stomach when we eat cereals on whole grains compared to flour. I definitely think you should eat whole grains, whole wheat grains, whole bulgur, lentils, beans, etc. because this contains resistant starch which is very good for the intestinal flora.

Drug induced ibs
There are many commercial medicines that causes gut-dysfunction such as diarrhea, constipation, gas, bloating and even gastrointestinal bleeding. Voltaren with Diclofenac is such a drug. Start reading the package insert for your medicines.
NSAIDs (Nonsteroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs) can also be hurt your gi tract.

Gluten free tips. Wheat in fodmap diet
Lentils, beans, chickpeas, whole grains, whole wheat, whole Bulgur, whole grains
According to FODMAP-guides beans, lentils that are canned or in tetrapack are better for the stomach than home cooked.
Beans and lentils contain very much resistant starch that is good for the stomach and therefore I definitely think you should eat them and I think you should cook them at home. Tip: Soak the beans/lentils/grains for 10 or 15 hours, change water before boiling. If you cook beans, chickpeas then pour off the water after ten minutes of boiling and then take new water. Wipe off the white foam in the pan. Use a big spoon and remove the white foam that occurs during the first ten minutes of cooking. Do you have ibs? Don't put salt in the water. Try to only use a little salt when you eat if you need salt. Feel free to skip the salt and feel the difference. It feels good for the stomach :)

Resistant starch - super food for the stomach and intestinal flora
Resistant starch is a type of carbohydrate that is very good for intestinal health. It is available in several different foods, unripe bananas, boiled cooled potatoes, Teff flour, beans and lentils and more.
FODMAP guides do not seem to include resistant starch in their recommendations, which is a big drawback for FODMAP.

Salt and anti-caking agents can cause IBS
I have had a big problems with stomach pain after meals and a big part of it disappeared when I stopped using salt. Try excluding salt in your diet totally for two or three days and feel the difference. salt also contains anti-caking agents that probably are not to healthy to eat. Buy a clean salt, like Himalayah salt ot mineral salt like Seltin. Make sure to get enough Iodine.
(from ica.se, edited) We only need 1.5 grams of salt per day. The recommended maximum dose is 5-6 grams (Swedish Food Administration) The average Swedish person eats 11 grams per day. The salt contains Sodium which is harmful and can cause cardiovascular disease. Salt can also cause kidney damage. High salt consumption can also cause migraine attacks and edema.
Salt is a common health hazard. We only need 1.5 grams of salt per day. We eat about 10 times as much!
Excessive salt intake is negative to health. Consider how much hidden salt you get in your daily food.
Salt can cause stomach cancer
Salt consumption is difficult to measure since it is ‘hidden’ in daily foods without us being aware of it.
Most published epidemiological studies provide positive evidence for an association between salt or salted food consumption and stomach cancer risk, which was also supported by experimental studies." (Pubmed)
Our results support the view that salt intake is an important dietary risk factor for gastric cancer" (Pubmed)
Be aware of harmful anti caking agents in salt
Best salt: Celtic sea-salt and Himalayan salt
Many gives the advice to avoid gluten, grain products etc. This is probably a good advice and worth a try to see if you get better. But there is a big difference between ground flour and whole grain.
